Call for Collaborators

INTERVENE is an ERC-funded, large-scale, multi-cultural global study testing how prejudice, polarization, and violent conflict contexts shape the effectiveness of intergroup interventions. In its first stage, we're planning to map individual-level intergroup socio-psychological variables across diverse intergroup contexts, in order to build the evidence base for effective, context-sensitive interventions.

Beyond the project's twelve core contexts, we are opening an international call to build a global network of data-collection collaborators and extend the study to new contexts around the world.

Who We're Looking For

We are inviting social scientists to become our collaborators: researchers who can identify a clear fault line between two groups in their own country or region — based on, for example, prejudice, polarization, or violent conflict — and collect data from both sides of it.

• Sample size: at least 200 participants from each of the two subgroups in the specific context (400+ total).
• Researchers from all world regions are encouraged to apply, with emphasis on those in currently underrepresented regions. Note that additional funding is set aside specifically to support participant sampling in low- and middle-income countries.

Ways to Contribute

Collaborators can take part in one or more of the following ways:

• Translate the survey from English into the local language.
• Fund data collection for at least 400 participants in your own context.
• Support other researchers by funding their data collection instead of, or in addition to, your own.

What's to Gain

• Co-authorship on up to 3 project outputs, in accordance with each team's contribution. A local team can consist of 1–3 members.
• Access to one of the largest and most contextually diverse datasets on intergroup conflict psychology assembled to date.
• Participation in a multi-year, ERC-funded international collaboration, with a network of researchers working on psychological intergroup interventions as a resource for future collaborations.
• Pre-registering original hypotheses for secondary papers based on the shared dataset.
